When we first started developing Heat Hydration, our goal was simple: create an electrolyte drink that didn't just replace what you lose in sweat but also supported performance in the heat. That led to hundreds of different formulations, countless taste tests, and plenty of trial and error before we landed on the formula we know and love today.

The truth is, though, there isn't a single "perfect" electrolyte drink. Everyone has different taste preferences, different sweat rates, and different hydration needs. Some people enjoy a sweeter drink, others prefer more tartness, and some like experimenting with different fruit combinations.

That's why we've decided to make our base formula public.

Whether you're an athlete, someone who works outdoors, enjoys hiking, spends time in the sauna, or simply wants to stay hydrated throughout the day, this recipe gives you a great starting point. From there, you can adjust the flavors however you'd like and make it your own.

The Heat Hydration Base Mix (30 Servings)

Mix the following ingredients together thoroughly in a large airtight container.

Ingredient

Amount

Pink Himalayan Salt

64.5 g

Potassium Citrate

22.5 g

15 g

Calcium Carbonate

6 g

Taurine

30 g

Rhodiola Rosea

1.2 g

Once everything is mixed evenly, store the powder in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

How to Use

For each drink:

  • Measure approximately 7.9 grams of the base mix.

  • Add it to 16 ounces (475 mL) of cold water.

  • Add your preferred flavor ingredients from one of the recipes below.

  • Sweeten with stevia to taste.

  • Shake or blend well until fully mixed.

Sweeten It Your Way

Everyone has a different preference when it comes to sweetness. We recommend starting with a small pinch of stevia and adding more until it tastes the way you like it.

If stevia isn't your favorite, feel free to experiment with other sweeteners. This recipe is meant to be customized.

Homemade Flavor Recipes

Lemon Lime

A bright, refreshing classic that's perfect after a workout or a hot day outside.

Ingredients (1 Serving)

  • 1 serving (7.9 g) Heat Hydration base mix

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Juice of ½ lime

  • Small pinch of citric acid (optional for extra tartness)

  • Stevia to taste

  • 16 oz cold water

  • Ice (optional)

Shake well and enjoy.

Strawberry Lemonade

Fresh strawberries bring a natural sweetness while lemon keeps the drink crisp and refreshing.

Ingredients (1 Serving)

  • 1 serving (7.9 g) Heat Hydration base mix

  • 3–4 fresh strawberries

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Stevia to taste

  • 16 oz cold water

  • Ice (optional)

Blend until smooth or muddle the strawberries before mixing everything together.

Cherry

Sweet cherries pair surprisingly well with the electrolyte blend and create one of our favorite homemade flavors.

Ingredients (1 Serving)

  • 1 serving (7.9 g) Heat Hydration base mix

  • About ½ cup fresh pitted cherries

  • Small squeeze of lemon juice

  • Stevia to taste

  • 16 oz cold water

  • Ice (optional)

Blend until smooth and serve cold.

Make It Your Own

Think of these recipes as a starting point, not a rulebook.

Try different citrus fruits, berries, tropical fruits, or even herbs like mint or basil. Adjust the sweetness, increase the tartness with extra lemon or lime, or dilute the drink with more water if you prefer a lighter flavor.

One of the biggest advantages of making your own electrolyte drink is that you can tailor every glass to your own taste while keeping the same hydration-focused base formula.

Storage Tips

  • Store the bulk powder in an airtight container away from moisture and direct sunlight.

  • Always use a clean, dry scoop to prevent clumping.

  • Shake the container before scooping if it has been sitting for a while, as some ingredients may naturally settle over time.

  • Fresh fruit drinks are best enjoyed immediately after mixing.

Final Thoughts

We're proud of the formula we've created, and we're even more excited to share it.

While Heat Hydration offers the convenience of perfectly measured stick packs and carefully crafted flavors, we also believe hydration shouldn't be a mystery. If making your own electrolyte drink fits your lifestyle, we hope this recipe gives you a solid foundation to build from.

Experiment with different fruits, adjust the sweetness to your liking, and most importantly, stay hydrated wherever your adventures take you.
